Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba follows Tanjiro Kamado, a kind and resourceful boy who lives a simple life in the mountains with his family. After the death of his father, Tanjiro takes on the responsibility of providing for his loved ones by selling charcoal in a nearby village. But his peaceful world is shattered when he returns home one day to find his entire family slaughtered by a demon. The only survivor is his younger sister, Nezuko — though she has been transformed into a demon herself, she remarkably retains traces of human emotion and reason.
Determined to save Nezuko and avenge his family, Tanjiro crosses paths with Giyu Tomioka, the stoic and skilled Water Hashira of the Demon Slayer Corps. Recognizing Tanjiro’s potential, Giyu sends him to train under his former mentor, Sakonji Urokodaki. Thus begins Tanjiro’s journey to become a Demon Slayer, facing terrifying enemies and honing his abilities, all while seeking a cure to restore Nezuko’s humanity.
The anime is adapted from the popular Japanese manga series Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, Kimetsu no Yaiba, lit. “Blade of Demon Destruction”) written and illustrated by Koyoharu Gotouge.
